Hello furiends! Please welcome Scruffy Paws' latest superhero kitty to join Petfinder - Hawkeye! Our little Hawkeye is a 22-week-old male, gray and white little ball of love and fluff. He is friendly and affectionate, enjoys being held, and you will never want to put him down once you feel how soft this boy is! Hawkeye will often activate his purr machine and give superkitty kisses!! As you may know, Hawkeye is quite skilled in paw-to-paw combat, martial arts, and wrestling moves - after all - he was trained by Captain Americat. He would do best in a home with another friendly and playful cat so that he may continue learning and training. Because Hawkeye has abundant superhero kitten energy, we recommend a home with older children. Loud noises and sudden movements startle him from time to time; we ask his new family to properly acclimate Hawkeye to his new home and family. Patience is a must. We are unsure how he would be in a home with dogs or other animals.

As you can see in his pictures - Hawkeye has one eye. It's amazing how far this little guy has come since he first arrived. When he was initially trapped, he was quite ill, and we noticed one of his eyes appeared to be missing. The goal was to start him on antibiotics to get him feeling better and stronger before making any decisions on his eye. He went to foster with his siblings and worked a lot on his socialization with his foster mom, Kim. She gave him the lovin, even though he didn't always appreciate it. Finally, he was old enough and strong enough to have his eye addressed. Our shelter vet cleaned and closed that socket right up. After a few days, we noticed his eye was swollen. The shelter vet pulled out a syringe full of pus. On antibiotics again, he went. We are happy to report that he is all better and turned into a complete mush while in our care.

All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies and distemper vaccinations, proof of FIV/feline leukemia testing, flea treatment, deworming, and an exam by a licensed veterinarian.

Our shelter hours are by appointment only and are not open to the public. Many of our cats and kittens are located in foster homes. An adoption application MUST be submitted and approved before meeting our cats/kittens. We do this for the safety of our fosters and potential adopters.

Our adoption process includes the following:

1. Adoption Application
To be considered for this cat(s) or kitten(s), you MUST complete an adoption application:
- Through our website (preferred) at www.scruffypawsanimalrescue.org/
- Email a copy to scruffypawsanimalrescue@gmail.com
- Drop off a hard copy to either of our partner PetSmart locations (Johnston or North Smithfield)
- Mail a hard copy to Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue at 2944 Post Rd. Warwick, RI 02886

2. Veterinary Reference
Please call your vet beforehand to give permission to release records to our adoption team. Out-of-state adoptions typically require an exceptional veterinary reference and are at the discretion of our adoption team.

3. Proof of Home Ownership OR Landlord Approval
If renting, the landlord's contact information must be provided so our adoption team can seek approval.

4. Home Visit
Please make sure you are located in our vicinity. We are based out of Warwick, RI. Due to COVID-19, we are currently doing virtual home visits until further notice.
