Harvey Domestic Short Hair Mix West Milford, NJ

Harvey is 10 years old and was neglected prior to coming to us. He was amongst fourteen cats that came from an overcrowded and unsanitary home. He had never been socialized and was very afraid. We have shown him love, patience, and of course, wet food! That is his favorite, and he hoovers his plate every morning.

Harvey did not understand human contact when he first got here, but he has made great strides in accepting it. He is brave enough for petting now! He likes head scratches and he has begun to lessen his airplane ears.

He resides in our Big Cattery with almost a dozen other cats, and he adores them. He would do best in a home with multiple cats and an owner who understands it may take a while for him to come out of his shell. We say he is kind of like a beaver or a woodchuck, he’s huge! He weighs nearly thirteen pounds and is very muscular. You may need a large carrier when you bring him home!

When the shelter is quiet, Harvey will roll around on the floor, belly up, and play with toys. He goes back and forth with his two favorites, a catnip-filled sardine plush and a lobster. Cats just love fish! We know one day Harvey will feel confident enough to play with his toys in front of us, and we cannot wait to see it.

Stop in to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our cats. We do not adopt first come; we always adopt to the best home for our animals. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you can have a cat. Also bring your Vet's information so we can conduct a vet check (and please let your Vet know we will be making a call).

Our adoption fee is $50 for cats. Our animals are fully vetted before being placed for adoption, and spayed/neutered if they are old enough. If they are too young for spay or neuter, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.
