Meet Hank

Hank is a big boy that bonds strongly and needs his own space and attention. He was surrendered to the Humane Society, but was having separation anxiety and acting out, so we took him to work with him. He was depressed and anxious (due to losing the only home he knew, and the humans he loved as his family) when we first got him, and lost a few lbs, but now, he is much better and put back on some of his weight.
He needs a household that is understanding and has time to interact one-on-one with him. He likes being near his human. He will communicate and ask for attention. He loves treats and is very food motivated. He doesn’t care much for other animals, but in time, can adjust to others as long as he has his own space he can come and go as he chooses (not locked in). He is free roam in the shelter with the other cats, and does fine, but it took a little while for him to feel secure and adjust.
It was recommended he be on anxiety meds, but he doesn’t really like taking them, so we do not currently have him on any. When highly stressed or when new animals around, he will act out without because his anxiety is higher. He is not appropriate for a house with kids.
He is not declawed and cannot be. He CANNOT be an outside cat – he does NOT have the skills to be safe.
