What is New Westminster Animal Shelter’s adoption process?
NOTE: our shelter is closed to the general public to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We will schedule meet-and-greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY for pre-screened applicants. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AN ANIMAL, please submit an application form: https://www.newwestcity.ca/services/animal-services/animal-shelter Our animals have unique personalities and needs. Our goal is to find the most suitable home for them and the most suitable pet for you. We make every effort to place animals in “forever” homes so they don’t find themselves back in a shelter. They’ve already lost their home once, and we don’t want them to go through that again. All applications are reviewed by two shelter staff members. We also conduct a phone interview, at which time we will address any questions or concerns you may have. Typically, we are able to inform applicants within 72 hours. If your application has been approved, we will then schedule a time for you to come pick up your new family member!
