Meet Greg FIV+

Hello, my furiends! Welcome our friend, Greg, to the Scruffy Paws family. Greg is 2 years and 2 months young and just a wonderful, lovable, orange purrball. Greg was found wandering the mean streets of Providence. He came to Scruffy looking rough, but he was so gentle even though he was scared and injured. It turns out he had a gnarly bone infection in his leg, most likely from a prior wound that wasn't treated, and he desperately needed medication. After some antibiotics and a whole lotta lovin' from Scruffy, Greg is ready to find his furever family. Greg loves getting pets, especially those head scratches! He becomes a purring mushball who will put his head in your hand and adorably enjoy all the attention. He doesn't mind being picked and will tolerate it for short periods. We are unsure how Greg would be in a home with dogs, or other animals. Older children would be OK.

Greg is FIV+, but that doesn't mean he isn't adoptable! With this diagnosis, FIV+ cats are not given a death sentence; they can live happy, healthy lives as indoor cats for years! (My FIV+ cat lives with four negative cats, and we are going on five years of happy catty household!)

Thank you for being so interested in adopting from Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue! If you see this post, we still accept applications for this cat(s)/kitten(s). Please refrain from emailing us regarding availability.

All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies, and distemper vaccinations, proof of FIV/feline leukemia testing, flea treatment, deworming, and an exam by a licensed veterinarian.

Our shelter hours are by appointment only and are not open to the public. Many of our cats and kittens are located in foster homes. An adoption application MUST be submitted and approved before meeting our cats/kittens. We do this for the safety of our fosters and potential adopters.

Our adoption process includes the following:

3. Proof of Home Ownership OR Landlord Approval
If renting, the landlord's contact information must be provided so our adoption team can seek approval.

4. Home Visit
Please make sure you are located in our vicinity. We are based out of Warwick, RI. Due to COVID-19, we are currently doing virtual home visits until further notice.

**Please note: Our volunteers try their hardest to contact every applicant in a timely manner but are often overwhelmed with a high volume of applications. Please allow up to two weeks for a response. We ask you to please be considerate and refrain from sending multiple follow-up emails or submitting duplicate applications.
