Gizmo was an owner surrender from Waverly, Iowa that we took in back in September 2017. He had some health issues that they did not want to deal with any more. Gizmo is up-to-date on shots and tested negative for FeLV / FIV. He is also neutered. He is living in a foster home.
Gizmo is about 4-1/2-years old now as of March 2020. He is a very easy going and friendly cat. He enjoys being petted and getting attention. He does not meow very often, he is fairly quiet. His favorite time of the day is breakfast and supper, ha. Gizmo likes to look out the window. He also likes to sleep in the sunshine coming in a window. He does well with other cats that are friendly to him. He has been around my older kind children and does well. I would think he would be ok around young children but I do not know for sure since none of us have ever messed with him or tried to pull his tail. He has been around dogs in his previous home and did well.
When Gizmo came to us, his poop was runny and he vomited often. What my vet determined after many tests was that he needed to be on Science Diet Prescription ZD food. After a year and a half, he is now regulated that his poop is more solid and he rarely vomits. He absolutely must be on this food for the rest of his life. That way he can stay healthy and be ok! He likes the dry version and the wet version of this food. He should eat twice a day. Either 2/3 cup all dry, or one can along with 1/4 cup of the dry. He is still thin and needs to continue putting on weight. You can buy this food from your vet. Or I purchase it online at chewy.com. It is expensive. But Gizmo is worth it! To adopt him, please check out the prices to make sure you can afford his food.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
