Ginger was adopted as a little kitten from an Indiana shelter but her owner had to surrender her several months later after finding out that her young daughter's chronic illness was due to an allergy to cats. This gorgeous long-haired kitty lived with two older cats and would probably acclimate well to a home with other feline-friendly cats. However, we think she'd probably be just as happy as your 'one and only' since she never interacts with any of the other cats in the room (including the two she came in with). Her owner told us that Ginger is very good with children and accepting of visitors but likes to smell their hand first. She added Ginger doesn't like being petted on her belly or having her nails trimmed but is accustomed to being brushed, can be playful but is on the lazy side, loves balls that rattle, and has a 'silent' meow. Since becoming our guest, our observations have been that Ginger does NOT like being brushed and she's not that crazy about being held. Nor does she like being petted for very long. She does sometimes 'pick' a person and will hop up on their lap but for, the most part, she much prefers to curl up on a bed in our bay window to soak up the sun and bird-watch. Because of our observations, we don't feel comfortable placing Ginger in a home where children live or frequently visit. We think she'd do much better with someone who wants a gorgeous but independent cat and who won't mind Ginger's 'hands off' attitude. If you would like to give her a loving and committed forever home, just stop by the shelter soon to fill out an application or, if you prefer, you can submit one online through our website (www.animalcaresociety.org). /// GINGER IS SPONSORED THRU MAY 2018 BY THE EMPLOYEES OF C & I ENGINEERING.
