Gendry is what you might call a gentle, sensitive giant. He’s a big cat, but has a very sensitive soul that is wary and cautious when he’s first getting to know you. This is common with cats who have been strays – life on the streets is hard and people are often unkind to stray cats. Gendry’s tender soul and spirit bear the scars of being a street cat. Despite this, when Gendry learns to trust someone, he loves fiercely and with all his heart. He’ll be your greatest protector. In many ways, he’s more dog than cat. Sometimes it seems like he’s a dog trapped in a cat’s body. It’s like he doesn’t always know how a cat is supposed to act and behave, so he’s a bit like an awkward teenager, trying to figure things out ?

With his stunning, clear green eyes, Gendry will look deep into your soul and will capture your heart. He’s got a very thick, luxurious coat and the most adorable black heart on the tip of his nose!

This sweet, sensitive boy is an adult.

Gendry likes to spread across your lap, stretch out his arms and offer his belly for belly rubs. And if you rub between his toes, you’ll be rewarded with a low, rumbling purr. And he loves chin and face scritches – he’ll purr forever while you’re doing that, and will lean into your hand for more if you try to stop.

With Gendry around you won’t need a clock to tell you when it’s time for breakfast or dinner ? He will let you know – LOUDLY – but it’ll be hard not to laugh when you hear his voice! Never did a voice so clearly not match a cat ? What do we mean? Well you’ll have to come meet him to discover that yourself!

Gendry will gladly keep you company whether you’re working from home, watching Netflix or just hanging out. And he’d really like to sleep on your bed at night. But he’s not in your face in a needy way. He’s just happy to hang and chill out with you. He’d like you to spend some time playing with him, but he can also entertain himself. Gendry loves wand toys and he’ll show you just how loveably dorky and awkward he can be when he leaps and pounces – a ballet dancer he will never be ;-) And watching this goofy boy run will make you laugh out loud! ?

Gendry would be happiest as a single cat, in a quiet, adult-only home as he gets startled and scared of loud noises and loud voices. He would tolerate another gentle, quiet cat if he doesn’t have to share a lap or compete for your attention. We suspect he may be fine with a respectful dog. And in a perfect world, Gendry would love a catio so he can enjoy the fresh air outside – this isn’t a ‘must’ though.

Gendry is around 8 yrs. old and he’s diabetic so he gets insulin twice a day. He’s not bothered one bit by getting his insulin – if you give it to him while he’s eating breakfast and dinner, he doesn’t even blink.

Because Gendry is diabetic he qualifies for our Permanent Foster program. This means Katie’s Place will cover all costs associated with his vet visits, his insulin, and any medications he may need for the rest of his life. We’ll show you how to do his insulin – it’s easy peasy!
