Galinda Domestic Short Hair Wheeling, IL

Meet Galinda. She is a 6 year old female cat that was transferred in from Chicago Animal Care and Control. Unfortunately, she was recently diagnosed with Feline Leukemia Virus. Since FeLV is transmittable to other cats, Galinda is looking for a single family home without any other pets. Although a diagnosis of FeLV can be emotionally devastating, it is important to realize that cats with FeLV can live normal lives for prolonged periods of time. Thus, we're hoping to give Galinda another shot at life outside shelter walls.

Galinda is such a wonderful cat. Her personality is relaxed and friendly. Though she's not a lap cat, she likes to be by us and has recently started sleeping at the foot of our bed every night. She does well with children. She's always interested in getting pets, especially chin scratches, and her fur is like black velvet. She uses her litter box perfectly, and she never jumps on the table or kitchen countertop. She has a huge appetite, and loves to play. She especially likes the laser and string/feather toys.

She would be such a great addition to your family. Though she can't be with other cats unless they also have feline leukemia, I believe she would get along ok with a calm dog. If you are interested in meeting her, please email cats@heartlandanimalshelter.org to schedule an appointment.
