- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Fred is an FIV+ cat - but do NOT worry. He will live a long, happy, healthy life just like any non-FIV cat with proper care. That just means he must be in an indoor only home, and make sure he goes to his annual vet visits. FAQ: FIV CANNOT be spread to other species. FIV can only be spread to other cats through deep bite wounds and reproduction. FIV weakens the immune system, so keep cat indoors ONLY. A FIV cat can live as long and healthy of a life as a non-FIV cat as long as you are diligent about their medical care (as you should be for a non-FIV cat, too, TBH). Meet Fred
Meet 7-ish year old friendly Fred!! He was definitely a house cat at some point, but lived a hard few years on the street before a family took him in! He has tested positive for FIV, and has some missing teeth from his time outdoors, but has settled in to his new life so quickly!
While Fred might seem shy at first, he has really been able to bond with his foster mom, who calls him "Biscuits" because he is always kneading. She writes, "I pray that whoever adopts Fred really takes the time to be patient and respect him, I have made so much progress with him and he has so much potential! It can take time to get to know him, but I swear it's worth it!"
Despite some initial anxiety with new people, Fred is so gentle and has never hissed or swatted at us! Within days of getting to know you, Fred will let his guard down and begin to relax. This 7 year old is ready for a second chance at a comfortable forever home that he deserves!
