Meet Felix
For inquiries contact jean@staf.org. Information and application are at www.staf.org.
Our handsome tabby version of "Felix the cat" is a little different in looks and personality than the original from way back when, but he has truly come into his own and has a wonderful demeanor and spirit. Felix is a low-key guy who enjoys a relaxing environment with the big boys in his room at the shelter. He loves pets and brushing from volunteer friends and will curl up in a warm lap. He would make the perfect companion for watching TV and would thrive with one-on-one special time together.
Felix had a difficult beginning, having been rescued from the streets. Not a fighter, he was obviously at the losing end of some scraps with free-roaming cats. He came to STAF with a large wound on the back of his neck, ears a bit tattered, and at first, he was a tad shy. As fighting for territory among outdoor cats is how FIV, an immune disorder, is communicated, we were not surprised to learn that he tested FIV positive. This condition is not transmissible to people and, with attentive vet care, cats with FIV make wonderful pets. Felix would do very well in an only-kitty household or with other residents that are easy going.
He may not be as gregarious as the notorious Felix, but his loving and gentle nature makes him famous nonetheless for lots of love and affection.
