Meet Elvis (Special Diet)
He is 7 years young and has been looking for his forever home for too long. He was found wandering the streets of Providence. He was a pretty muscular Tomcat; you could tell he was holding his own out there! Living on the streets is hard enough; luckily, he was brought to Scruffy for much-needed medical attention. He required surgery to assist with a urinary blockage. Because of that, he will be on a prescription urinary diet. On top of that, he had a few teeth that were rotten and had a dental procedure to take care of them.
Elvis loves to rub all over you and invades your privacy if you are in his vicinity - personal space? You shall have none of that! Oh, Elvis! Typical Tomcat, he can only handle minimal attention before he gets overstimulated. He is VERY food motivated. Elvis would do best as the only cat in the home and with no young kids.
Elvis is a favorite of volunteers. While most days at Scruffy are filled with poop scooping, feedings, intakes, and playtime, there are more challenging days than the volunteers admit. One picture of Elvis shows him during a particularly hard day for our Cheryl. She had to say goodbye to a Scruffy resident, Dewey. Every cat that comes into Scruffy is loved and treated with respect. Volunteers stay by their side when those unfortunate moments arise while they cross the Rainbow Bridge. She gave me permission to post this private moment she shared with Elvis. When Cheryl took a moment to herself in the bathroom to mourn Dewey, Elvis intuitively nudged her and hugged her while she cried.
Elvis is a class act. He has so much love to give, and we hope you have room for this hunka burning love in your heart.
