Elsa came from an extreme hoarding case of over 80 cats in the home over in Frederika, Iowa. Waverly Pet Rescue was able to help with 4 cats and on August 1st, 2024 we took in Elsa. She is now up to date on vaccines, tested FeLV/FIV negative, and spayed.

Elsa is about 1-1/2-years old as of October 2014. We let Elsa be in a foster home for a couple of months before trying to adopt her out. She lived in a cage her whole life over in the hoarder home.

Elsa is a shy girl who enjoys hiding in high cuddly spots but comes out to enjoy cuddles and pets on her terms. She gets along with other cats nicely and tries to be friends. She does prefer a home without dogs and children. Foster family does suggest having tall litter boxes as she tends to kick litter all over. Elsa prefers a home without children probably under the age of 8 as they scare her. She tends to run from people if they walk up to her too fast. Elsa has a favorite spot to lay which is in a closet inside a cubby in a shelf. She would probably love a cat tree with a cubby if its in a quiet space. Elsa is very quiet, shy and skittish but is a sweet girl who enjoys pets when she's ready and willing.

She is a beautiful cat and could blossom in the right home and after more time (months of even years), she could come out of her shell even more. She is learning to trust and be in a home which is not easy for a cat that was confined to a small cage her whole life. We are hoping someone with patience finds it in their heart to give Elsa quiet and loving home.

Elsa is also living with Anna who came from the same home. They are friends if anyone would like to adopt both of them. They did not live in the same cage together so have only gotten to know each other the last 2 months.

Elsa's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
