Ellie is a very sweet girl who is still gaining confidence with people. She is very curious and absolutely loves being pet, but is still in lap-cat training because the concept is new and a little bit scary. She was curious enough to come right out of her carrier to explore her foster’s entire apartment when she arrived. Ellie usually sleeps next to the bed at night, her fosters can see that she reaaaallllyyy wants to jump up and check out the soft, warm thing the humans sleep in, but hasn’t convinced herself to give it a try yet. They swear they can hear her talking to herself “No, it will be fine, nothing bad will happen. The people are up there and they have hands, and the hands pet, and petting feels good.” Ellie is great with other cats and is very comfortable with them. She often follows their lead and gets the confidence to come for love and scratches after watching the resident cats enjoy the attention. She would love to be adopted into a home with a resident cat, but will also be OK as an only cat. She has not been exposed to dogs, but she might do OK with a calm, small breed dog who won’t be overly interested in her. Ellie loves catnip and playing with mice toys. Being picked up and carried is a bit overwhelming so Ellie will do best with older children who can understand that she won’t want to be picked up or carried. A chaotic, busy home won’t be ideal for Ellie. Given a bit of patience from her adopter, we fully expect Ellie to transition into a regular lap visitor.
