Meet Edward

Edward may have been born in the spring of 2023; we are not really sure. If you ask him, he will say that he is no more than sixth months old. He plays and races around the house like an overgrown kitten. He loves to wrestle with any of the bigger kittens who are willing to wrestle with him. He can get a bit rough but does not mean any harm. To his foster mom and other people, he is very affectionate, although his mom does have to remind him to settle down when he tries to wrestle her arm a bit too enthusiastically. When Edward was brought to the Shelter at the end of March, he was immediately taken to a veterinary hospital with a nasty injury to his scrotum (he may have been hit by a car) and severe pneumonia. The vet cleaned his injury, performed surgery, and through sheer persistence and amazing dedication got him through his pneumonia. He moved from the hospital immediately into a foster home where his foster mom then treated him daily with several drugs for the next few weeks and fattened him up (he was pretty skinny). Edward was also very wobbly on his back legs when he first went to his foster mom. He now has hardly any wobble at all and can race up and down stairs as stably and fast as any of his kitten friends. It is possible that Edward had been kept in a cage where he was unable to move around very much for the first part of his life. Looking at him now, it is hard to believe the condition he was in when we first met him. We wish we knew his history before he was brought to the Shelter. Edward can be the only cat in a home, but he would probably do best in a home with another cat who enjoys rough play. He would probably also be better in a home without very young children, only because of his rough play. If you'd like to meet Edward or think he would be a good match for your family, please complete our adoption questionnaire at http://www.trentoncats.org/adoption-questionnaire/ and let your references know someone will be contacting them soon. All our cats are neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed and flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and microchipped prior to adoption. Thanks for opting to adopt!
