Meet Earl

Earl is the sweetest cat around and is estimated to be about 7 years old. He enjoys gazing out the window and sleeping at the foot of your bed. He loves nothing more than to get head and chin scratches and if you scratch his upper shoulders you’ll get to hear his nice low rumble of a purr that doesn't stop! Once you get Earl purring from pets and scratches he will usually beg for more! He is a great companion for someone who likes a cat who is always lounging near by, but not always on your lap. He is affectionate and when he wants your attention he will come to you, but also he takes much content in just being in the room with you. He also enjoys being brushed and the Furminator is his favorite.

Earl is diabetic. He gets 1.5 units of insulin twice a day after mealtimes which doesn't bother him in the least. The injections are super easy to administer…don’t believe us? Check out this quick video to how easy it really is https://youtu.be/lhDihlKBtJw
After spending a lot of time with Earl and really learning his condition we have discovered with the right environment, right diet and with someone able to take a glucose reading 2-3 times a week he can go periods of time without needing any insulin. So far Earl has been able to go up to 3 weeks not needing any insulin.

Earl also has Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+), which is a cat-only disease that decreases the ability of the immune system to fight some infections. FIV+ is not easily passed between cats. It CANNOT be transmitted casually through shared litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling or playing. FIV is most commonly transmitted via deep bites during cat fights, the virus is present in the saliva of infected cats. With appropriate care and treatment of chronic conditions, most FIV+ cats live long, healthy and relatively symptom free lives.
