Dax is an 8-year-old neutered male tuxedo cat in need of a new loving home due to extenuating
circumstances. Do you have room in your heart and your home to take in this sweet boy?
Dax’s story: Dax is an indoor-only cat who has lived with me for 7 years, and lived happily with
two other cats for 2.5 years. This past June 2024 he developed a very sudden-onset,
unexplainable aggression towards my other two cats, probably triggered by a neighborhood
male stray marking territory outside our front window. He flipped a switch inside somehow and
we have been unable to switch it back. I've worked with his vet for over 6 months trying all
possible solutions to help him - OTC, behavioral, environmental, prescription - and he cannot be
fixed. His aggression now creates a dangerous environment when he is within eyesight of my
other two cats and therefore he has been living isolated in our guest bedroom since June. He
cannot have free reign in the house anymore because of his behavior and also the scary
environment he creates around my children when he’s reactive. He deserves so much more
than living in one room alone; he’s such a sweet boy by himself and would make an excellent
companion in a single-pet household!
Dax loves attention and purrs so loudly when he’s being brushed. He’s very food-motivated and
loves his treats. He’s a silly boy who loves to announce that he’s bringing you a cat toy, but most
of the time he’s too lazy to actually play with it. He’s just proud of himself for finding it. He’s so
good about using a scratching post and never scratches my furniture. When the mood strikes
him he’s an adorable lap cat and will hold down your legs for hours. He is excellent with
strangers and wants everyone to pet him, and he’s so good with kids (but he’s not especially
careful about where his claws are going, so small kids would need to be taught to watch for his
paws).
We are located in Midland and Dax is an established patient with Dr. Rhead at Eastman Animal
Hospital. He does get Hills Science Diet food for his kidney health, but it can be ordered right
through the vet’s website and delivered straight to your door! He is otherwise in great health,
although definitely a chunky boy. As far as new home placement, he has no experience with
dogs except looking at them out a window, so I would not allow him to be placed in a home with
a dog. Obviously due to his current issue he cannot be placed in a home with any other cats.
