Dashing and Dazzling: Meet Dante!

When Dante first arrived at EHS, he was a real conundrum that we were eager to solve. Thought to have been a bit feisty by his previous owners, he was surrendered to EHS. However, as fate would have it, Dante experienced a total transformation of character while living in his foster home. He is now proudly showing off his true personality, as he impatiently waits to spice (and sweeten!) up the life of the one(s) he is truly meant for.

Dante is an affectionate, confident, and vocal cat who is full of swagger. He's vocal when he greets you at the door, when he needs food, and when he wants attention. He also calls out if he is trying to find you. And once he feels comfortable with you, Dante loves being petted. All he wants in life is to be close to people, like being in the same room as you (or even company!) and rubbing up against your legs when you walk through the door. He is so warm and welcoming and will even allow a new visitor to pet him without resistance. When Dante wants attention, he gives head bonks, or licks. He'll also sit on your chest as often as possible—but his ideal spot is right between your feet. He really enjoys pets under his chin, around his ears, and on his head, and he also accepts them on his back, his side, and (sometimes) on his front paws. But watch out! His belly and back paws are strictly off-limits, and despite his desperate need for attention, Dante does not like to be picked up!

A playful boy, Dante’s favourite toys are boxes, wrappers, laser pointers, and wands. He's very smart and has learned how to give high fives, a trick he practices every day with is fosters! He's less of a fan of things that move and make loud noises, such as blow dryers or the vacuum. He is quite distressed by these and will hiss and swat at them. Dante is also absolutely terrified of Christmas trees and will run away in the presence of one.

The ideal home for Dante would be one with an experienced cat owner, who has no children, no other pets, and isn't into Christmas décor. His new home should also have secure doors, as Dante has used his strength and smarts to open doors that his fosters never would have expected him to. His adopter should be someone who is patient and understanding, and who will provide him with lots of love, attention, and affection. Potential adopters should note that although Dante hasn’t had a major biting, or a minor nipping, incident in a while, he can nip or go after your feet if overstimulated or feeling insecure in a new environment. A strong understanding of cat body language is a must.

The adoption fee for a single cat at EHS is $175. Take home a feline friend for your kitty and the adoption fee for the pair is $300! For kittens under six months of age, the adoption fee is $200. Or double your cuteness quotient and adopt two wee furballs for $350! Each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 5 months of age, but the cost of spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption.
