Claire's owner in Waterloo, Iowa was not able to keep her so she is now a WPR kitty. She now tested negative to FeLV / FIV, got current on shots, and was spayed. She is living in a foster home.

Claire is about 6 years old as of June 2020.. She is a very sweet kitten and playful. Claire is always so happy to see you. Look at those huge eyes! Just as big as her personality! She loves to play with toys. She's a sweetheart and loves to roll over to her side.

4/14/15 UPDATE: I would love for just the right person to fall in love with Claire. She's still shy sometimes, she is very curious and follows me around everywhere (and she's not afraid of the vacuum cleaner!). She's also a bit of a talker and has an enormously loud purr for her tiny self. She's become much more affectionate - she doesn't always like being carried around for too long, but she's come such a long way since we first started fostering her. She's incredibly playful and loves carrying anything and everything around in her mouth. Her favorite are bottle-caps! She'll come running at the sound of any bottles being opened and chases the caps around for days (I often find them after she's stashed them in my shoes, lol).

1/6/17 UPDATE: Claire's foster mom and dad moved out of state so she came to a new foster home about a month ago. She was not shy at all with us and warmed up right away. She enjoys being petted. Claire will talk here and there and tell you what she thinks. She loves to explore and check everything out. She does not like to be picked up and best to not try. It still is easy to get her in a pet taxi if you need to take her to the vet or something. When you are petting her, just gently grab the scruff of her neck and put her in. Sometimes she tries to play with your hands, if she does that redirect her to a feather wand toy instead. Occasionally she will also give little love nips. I tell her, No biting Claire hoping she learns to not to this. It is best if she is in a home with older children over the age of 8. In a new home, you will want to start her off in a room alone until she settles in. Claire is very sweet. After being in rescue for over 2 years, she would love to find someone who understands cats to adopt her.

5/31/17 UPDATE: Claire was adopted for a very short time. Her adopter moved and ended up not being able to take her with him. So she is back with WPR. We want her next home to be forever! She is still as sweet as can be. A little shy at first but warms up quickly. Her adopter said she was the perfect cat. Claire will be about 3 years old in June 2017. Claire has decided she wants a home with no other cats. She does not do well with other cats.

Will someone please adopt Claire and give her a true forever home? $95.00 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
