Meet Chica

Name: Chica

Age: 1 to 2 years old

Breed: Domestic short hair

Reason for being at shelter: Owner surrender

Description: Update: Chica has really bloomed in her personality and increased her sociability scale. She’s far more outgoing now, she loves attention and wants to be with people, she loves to play and is really smart to show her play hunting prowess and loves to hang out on the highest perch she can find. From being a very grumpy girl on intake to a very amenable demeanor now is a huge change. Not living in pain has done wonders for her attitude and her energy. And she’s even friendlier with most other kitties, too. It is a delight to see her so happy now. She likes to be held and she likes being a lap cat. Chica has become a favorite here. She really is a fantastic kitty.

What’s more fun than repeatedly saying the name Chica is actually spending time with her. Chica a delightful young kitty who longs for love and attention and enjoys her play time. So different than when she first arrived. She wasn’t much interested in any of that, but once the staff figured out why, progress was made. For unknown reasons, Chica had pain in her hind end and didn’t like being touched there and was limited in allowing any contact. If you watch her from behind, you can see her back legs move outward and twist a bit. She may have been born that way. Again, we don't know. Now she is on daily pain meds and she’s a whole new cat. Life is so much better not living in pain. She’s happy and joyful and loving and interactive and welcomes all human contact. She sprints around during play as if she were a kitten again. She has not slowed down at all. Chica talks and chats and murmurs in conversation, too. Chica is now a social butterfly and a very loving cat.

Note: Daily meds for nerve pain. Please talk to Kitty City cat staff about Chica's medical needs for further explanation.
