Charlotte was a stray in Waverly, Iowa. Some kind people in SE Waverly have been feeding and caring for many stray cats over the years. Waverly Pet Rescue has been taking them in since February 2017. Charlotte is the 33th one we took in. So Charlotte is now a WPR cat. She is now up to date on shots, and spayed. And she also tested negative for FeLV / FIV.

Charlotte is a beautiful black and white cat with amazing marking on her. She is about 4-1/2 years old as of January 2021. She became WPR cat along with both of her two-week old kittens back a couple months ago. She was an awesome mama and very protective of her babies. Her babies are old enough they will be fully vetted soon. Maybe some kind family would love to adopt Charlotte and her babies, that would be so great! Once you have earned Charlotte's trust she is very sweet and affectionate. She is unsure of new situations and startles easily, so no young children would be best. Once she has had time to adjust she loves to play just like a kitten. She is nervous being held, but is making progress. If properly introduced she does well with other cats, but she has not been exposed to dogs. Her children are Fern and Wilbur. Would love to see her adopted into the same home as one or both of her kittens. ( Fern and Wilbur have already been adopted)

11/21/18 UPDATE: Charlotte (also called Mamma by her foster family) is a wonderful cat! She is super sweet and very affectionate. She enjoys a good face rubbing and often flops to have you rub her belly. She’s ok with being picked up and held, but not for long periods of time. She is very playful and absolutely loves “window time”. She is also prefers to be “up” on things. We often find her up on cat condo, a window, shelf or whatever to watch and relax. She likes her cat bed, but even that has to be up off the floor. She has a non-dominate personality and does well with other cats. Her foster friend is named Gracie.

10/3/19 UPDATE: Charlotte is a wonderful stereotypical cat. She likes love when she wants, she loves an open window and to get as high up as she can to watch everything. She will pout if she’s not getting attention when she wants it or after she gets her nails clipped, but give her a bit and she’s quick to forgive. She’s laid back with other cats and always loves on the little ones (kittens). She loves to play just like a kitten and getting her tummy rubbed. Her favorite toys are her braided toy and cardboard couch. She’s been around a lot of fosters, but her long-time foster buddies are Gracie, Luna and Misty. She would make a great addition to a loving home.Took her to the vet today. Charlotte has a sort of gum disease that attacks her teeth so eventually she will lose teeth/need extractions. I asked if there was anything we could do to help and she told me no.

1/17/21 UPDATE: Charlotte (AKA Mama) was taken to the vet in 2020 for her yearly check-up and had her teeth and gums re-evaluated by a different vet. While yearly evaluations of her teeth and gums are going to be necessary there was no current sign of gum disease.

Charlotte needs to be adopted into a family with a cat buddy for she is very playful and would be too lonely without someone to play with. So you would need a cat friend for her or adopt her with one of her foster friends. She cannot be an only cat. She has a non-dominant personality and is very accepting of other cats of all ages given proper introductions. Besides her foster friends, she likes playing with toys, especially a laser toy, but also enjoys feathers and even rugs. She often somersaults and she’s a big flopper. She loves belly rubs and to be brushed, but often tries to hold the brush herself, which doesn’t work too well.
She is such a wonderful kitty, with just the right amount of “cattitude.” She doesn’t like to be laughed at and will go off and pout. However, she likes attention and so she’s quick to forgive. She’s not fond of being held, but can be picked up for brief periods of time. She would really make a great addition to a loving family. As a foster she has gone through a lot of changes and it takes her a bit of time to adjust. So a new family will need to be understanding, patient and loving while she adjusts, but it will definitely be worth it! Please consider giving this sweet girl a forever home!

Will someone please adopt Charlotte and give her a forever home? $95 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
