Meet Charlie Doughnuts - Lap Cat!

APPLICATION IS FIRST STEP!

Charlie Doughnuts (approx. 6 years) was rescued by a Good Samaritan in the Bronx who posted him to Craigslist to find him a home. Unfortunately, Craigslist is not the safest place for cats, so we intervened and got him safe. He’s went straight to our vet, got fully vetted (including bloodwork), vaccinated, and neutered.

He came to us all scratched up from the streets as you can see in some of the pics, but he's cleaned up so well and all of he's scratches have now healed.
He is calm, gentle boy whose #1 activity is cuddling. He loves people of all ages, loves to sit by the windowsill watching birds and people passing by. He is a big fan of treats playing with wand toys, and self-manicuring his nails on his cardboard scratcher. He’s also a fan of petting sessions and scritches, is low maintenance, chill, and a great lap warmer.

He’s a purrfect boy and was very obviously an indoor kitty before he was found on the streets.

Charlie Doughnuts is FIV+ but otherwise perfectly healthy. Don’t let this deter you as most cats with FIV live long healthy lives just like negative cats and studies have shown that most often the virus is slow acting and can take years to have a noticeable effect on health, if it even does. In fact, many FIV+ cats never progress to the point of immune deficiency.

He would do great as an only cat or with one other cat with a slow introduction. Since FIV is not transmitted easily (it takes a deep bite wound) Charlie can live with another cat as long as they get along. He is also great with kids, however Charlie has not been tested with dogs.

There is a false notion that cats who test positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV+) require special care but they are no more demanding than your average kitty. FIV+ cats do have a weakened immune system, which means they should stay inside, be fed a high-quality diet, and get routine vet checkups as all cats should.

They can safely live with non-infected cats as long as the kitties are spayed/neutered and don’t fight (FIV is only transmitted through intercourse or deep bite wounds, so hissing or minor spats are nothing to worry about it is not easily or casually spread). In other words, FIV+ kitties do not need special treatment, and they make wonderful companions.

He has had a recent dental, is neutered, current with vaccines, dewormed and FELV negative.
