You couldn’t do better for companionship than this absolutely incredible cat! Perpetually cheerful, Chance is always happy to greet his volunteer friends at the door to his room, to sit in a lap when someone sits on the floor, and to look up with absolute love in his eyes. This bright-eyed tuxedo is fine with other cats with slow introductions, although he initially makes sure newbies know that it is he who rules the room.
A young woman rescued Chance when she found him suffering from a debilitating injury, presumably from a vicious attack by a larger animal. With an infection from an abscess, damage to his bladder and paralysis of his back end, this sweet boy’s prognosis was guarded and left many questions. If Chance recuperated, what would that look like? Would he be able to walk again? Would he require assistance with expressing his bladder in perpetuity? Chance immediately understood that people were there to help him and showed us his incredible spirit. Miraculously, this inspiring kitty began to stand and then to walk. After expressing his bladder for months, we were thrilled when he showed us one day that he no longer needed our help. As a result of his trauma, Chance has a little weakness in the back end. Yet he can now jump up on the cat tree and use a litter box without difficulty. It is impossible to know if there will be any residual issues as he ages but he has a clean bill of health and we know his future could not be brighter. STAF gave this AMAZING cat a chance—will you?
