Challah's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Meet Challah — a six-month-old brown tabby bursting with personality and charm!

Challah has been with Ruff Start Rescue since he was just three weeks old. While his siblings were all adopted soon after their spay/neuter procedures, Challah remained in his foster home, growing up alongside two adult cats who have helped him learn the ropes of feline life. He’s playful, social, and thrives on companionship — whether it’s another cat, a friendly dog, or his favorite humans.

While Challah could adjust to being the only pet, he would truly shine in a home with another kitten his age or other furry friends to play with. Without the right outlet, his clever little mind and endless energy could lead to some mischief — he’s just too smart for his own good sometimes!

This bright boy loves food puzzles, interactive toys, and learning new tricks. He’s got perfect litter box manners and usually sticks to scratching posts and cat trees like a pro. Challah has never met a stranger — his goofy antics and snuggly nature win over everyone he meets in no time. After a good play session or a round of zoomies, you’ll find him cuddled up with his foster family or feline buddies.

Challah will need a forever home that can help him stay healthy — he must be kept on measured meals only, as he tends to overeat if given the chance. He’s also known to chew on or eat non-food items like trash, so a tidy home and close supervision are important to keep him safe.

If your home could use a little spark of joy (and maybe some well-timed zoomies), and your resident pet could use a best buddy, Challah is the one for you!

Challah is from an owner surrender with 3 siblings. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.

To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page.

If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.

Want to adopt a kitten? We highly recommend you consider bringing home two instead of one! Adopting kittens in pairs has been proven to be beneficial for cats’ emotional and behavioral well-being and greatly improves the likelihood of long-term adopter happiness as a result. Adopting more than one kitten also reduces the risk of “Single Kitten Syndrome” (also known as Tarzan Syndrome), a symptom of under-socialization during a kitten’s most formative weeks. Kittens who are under-socialized may develop aggressive tendencies toward both other animals and humans as they grow, creating lifelong behavioral issues for owners.
