Cardinal - KITTEN in foster's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Cardinal is a beautiful male orange tabby with lots of white; white underside, white chest, white on his face, legs and paws. He has the softest fur and although not long hair, he is fuzzy and is quite a stunner. Cardinal has something special “up his sleeve”. Cardinal (and his siblings Zinnia and Aster) are polydactyl, sometimes known as Hemingway Cats. Cardinal has an extra thumb on both front feet, which makes him look like he is wearing mittens. It is beyond adorable! It doesn’t cause any issues; but makes him quite unique and you may fall in love when you see his front paws.

Cardinal was born in late May 2025. Cardinal and his siblings Aster and Zinnia and their mother Poppy were on Death Row when an overcrowded large city shelter ran out of space. KSC answered the call and they arrived at KSC on Father’s Day. Poppy and her three kittens were such a gorgeous family, all very brightly colored and round little puff balls. It is terrifying to think how close they came, especially as they have grown into spectacular kittens. The sweet little family went immediately into a KSC foster home to grow up in a safe and loving environment.

Cardinal was a bit shy as a baby, but he has fully grown out of it and is frequently a ringleader of the posse of now five kittens. When not up to kitten hijinks, Cardinal is a champion napper, and prefers a soft lap for napping or a soft window perch. He sleeps deeply and melts into a furry flat pancake.

Cardinal is easy, he eats well and uses the litter box with no problems, loves to cuddle, is happy being picked up, and loves other cats and kittens. His old shyness comes back a bit when he is exposed to something or someone new, but he gets over it quickly. Cardinal is a very friendly and sweet kitten. He is also a fan of giving nose kisses (like the rest of the kittens he lives with), Cardinal is your typical orange male kitty; sweet, charming, easy and just a bit goofy. Cardinal will be fine with another friendly cat or would love to go home with one of the kittens he grew up with, he is especially close with Remiel and Aster.

If you would like to meet Cardinal, please visit the following link to fill out an application. https://www.kingstreetcats.org/info/adoption
