Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Candy does have some medical considerations to keep in mind and she's hoping to find an adopter dedicated to helping her stay healthy. When she was surrendered to the shelter, she was experiencing weight loss and vomiting. She's feeling so much better since receiving necessary vet care and diagnostics. She has mild irritable bowl disease and is currently on an anti-nausea medication. She also has consistently high white blood cell and lymphocyte counts which indicate that she has some sort of blood cancer (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia or Acute Myeloid Leukemia). She takes a liquid low-dose steroid daily to help. She may need these medications adjusted as she ages.

Meet CANDY!

MEET CANDY!

She's our candy girl! This 14 year old spayed Tuxedo girl found her way to City of Elderly Love after being surrendered to animal control due to her owners not being able to care for a pet any longer. She's been such a treat (get it, candy - treat?) to get to know. We're excited to help her find the perfect home!

Candy is super sweet and independent. She loves to hang out with her foster family and will follow you around the house to see what you're doing but isn't necessary in your way all the time. She loves her cheeks scratched and despite being an older lady, still loves playing with toys especially dangly stings and her feathered mouse which she carries around the house and even talks to! She's got such a great personality! Candy is currently in foster care with other animals including cats and dogs. She seems comfortable sharing her space with other cats and smaller dogs who aren't too in her face but is pretty scared of the larger dog in her foster home and lets him know very clearly that she doesn't want to be friends. She'd probably be happiest in a home with other low-key animals like herself and would benefit from an appropriate slow introduction.
