Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is extending a Courtesy Post to Rohnert Park Animal Services for this special-needs kitty, please contact them directly as shown below.

Callie is very sweet, loving DSH brown tabby spayed female guessed to be 7 years old. She came to us as a stray on March 26. She is a very social, affectionate kitty and will head-butt people for affection. She is neutral around other cats. She is a very nice cat - temperament is not an issue!

This sweet girl appears to be deaf. This may have been due to an adverse reaction to the product used to flush her ears after a dental cleaning (though it was labeled for cats). Immediately after the ear flush (while under anesthesia) she started to exhibit neurologic symptoms such as a head tilt and difficulty with balance. Her ear infection has resolved and neurologic symptoms have greatly improved though she still has a slight head tilt and tremor and sometimes circles when stressed. This may continue to improve over time. She is able to get herself up and down vertical structures mostly without incident.

She also over-grooms and has some bare areas at the base of her tail and lower belly – these were present at intake but have gotten larger (it is NOT ringworm). She does not have fleas so we presume this may be a self-comforting or anxiety induced behavior. We have started her on a medication to see if it will decrease.

Her blood panel was normal, she is Felv/FIV/HWT negative, up-to-date on vaccines & de-wormed and microchipped.

She is available for adoption but we hate to see this sweet kitty languish in a shelter and she is now competing with kittens for available homes. Please contact Rohnert Park Animal Services directly for inquiries and application.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is dedicated to matching exceptional cats with qualified adopters who will cherish their pet and create an ideal forever home.

NOTE: We prefer families with children bring them to the adoption appointment. Why? This allows interaction between the children and the cat. This helps ensure they will be a good fit for each other. A mismatch between a child and a cat is not in anyone's best interests!

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue (purebredsplus.org), serving Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Northern Nevada, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of purebred cats, kittens and other exceptional felines. We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit rescue group. Most of our beautiful felines come from Northern California Animal Shelters. One of our goals is to keep purebred cats from ever ending up in a shelter. We are happy to help you if you need to rehome your purebred cat. Often, we can offer advice if your cat is having behavioral problems, and you may end up keeping the cat. We do NOT ship cats. We will place cats out of area but you must arrange to come and meet your new friend in person.
