Meet Cali
Cali is a calico polydactyl, and a very special cat. She is very soulful. She's a calm presence in your home, lying on the furniture near you and happily accepting pets. She has a kind of wise, maternal energy. She's a big, chunky girl, but she's not fat! Her natural body type is just really big! She is around 4 years old. She's sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed and vet checked.
She prefers men to women, usually developing strong bonds with her man guardians while being friendly but a bit more independent with her women caretakers. She would do well in a home with both kinds of owners, or an only male household. She is good with other cats, and a home with another friendly male cat is preferred for her, but not essential. Cali loves living with her human's routine, and is also good at being alone, so could live with someone who works outside the house with no problem.
Cali is a humanitarian adoption. Her adoption fee is fully waived. The rescue has worked hard to diagnose Cali's issues in the last year, but the vet has had a difficult time determining what the problem is, even after many exams and tests. Cali has sneezing fits, and a bit of a hard time breathing during them due to congestion. She used to have a lot more congestion, but after rigorous courses of medication and keeping her in the bathroom while her fosters take hot showers, her chronic congestion has cleared up. She still sneezes a bit. The vet thinks that she has a nasal polyp, which is not currently impacting her but should be removed in the future. Cali also has a heart murmur, which is not an urgent issue but eventually should be looked at by a specialist to make sure she's alright as she grows older. Her quality of life is currently fine, she is in stable condition and she has been cleared by the vet for adoption.
Cali has lived with her brother River for her whole life, and they are both currently still in foster together. Sadly, they've been up for adoption as a bonded pair for over a year without receiving one application. The decision was made to allow them to be adopted separately, knowing that they would be sad at first but soon bond to their new families. They've been bounced around from one home to another, with their past owners being neglectful or unable to care for them anymore, and they just want to find their true families!
Cali would be a wonderful new family member. If you are interested in adopting her, please contact hailey.oldfield98@gmail.com for an adoption interview.
