Meet Bowie
Meet handsome Bowie!
Bowie is a four year old dark gray, shorthair male who was rescued with his litter mates as an orphaned baby and bottle fed. Bowie was adopted years ago with his sister Bella and is an extremely loving and gentle cat. He is extremely attached to his current male owner but he is also great with the girls he lives with. When one was recently sick he stayed with her for days until she recovered.
Bowie is very smart , he loves to head butt his humans for affections, and though he doesn’t like to be picked up he enjoys riding around on his male owners shoulders. He will take some time to adjust but once he does, he is the kind of kitty to have an extremely deep and strong bond with his human family.
So why is Bowie looking for a new home? When Bowie was first neutered, he unfortunately had one testicle that remained inside his body, producing testosterone. As Bowie aged, he started urinating outside of his box and “marking," like an unfixed cat does. He has since had surgery to remove the testicle, but he continued to pee outside the box because he was accustomed to it. Bowie was put on Prozac which helped a little but did not fully resolve the problem.
Bowie is looking for someone to give him a chance. I’ve had numerous cats who urinated inappropriately due to behavioral issues and once they completely changed environments and had a “fresh start” they never had any issue with inappropriate elimination again. I do not expect someone to take him and keep him if he does urinate out of the box, I’m just looking for someone to give him a shot and see how it goes. If it doesn’t go well he will come back to us.
Bowie is such a good cat otherwise and it is heartbreaking because none of this is really his fault. Anyone interested in doing a trial or fostering Bowie will be provided with needed supplies, food, and much guidance to make his chances as good as possible. Bowie had had all medical reasons ruled out and is a very healthy, stable and beautiful cat. Please consider helping Bowie by just giving him a shot.
Bowie is good with children, he has not been around dogs, he is good with his sister cat so a home with children and/or another cat could work for him.
If interested, please reach out to his foster mom Laura at 315-415-7572
Please consider giving Bowie a chance. He deserves it…
