Meet Binky

One day a friend of STAF found Binky strolling down the middle of a busy thoroughfare. We don’t know how he lost his vision, but he appears to be completely blind. At the shelter, we like to say with affection that Binky is vertically challenged: unlike the other blind cats with whom he has lived in Wonderland (named for the great performer Stevie Wonder), Binky has never learned how to jump up on furniture or climb the cat tree. He is the ideal pet for those annoyed by counter-surfing felines. Yet like most special needs cats, Binky doesn’t know he has a disability. He compensates for it in other ways and would make a delightful companion. This funny little guy has an exceptional sense of smell and is very sneaky. Before we know it, he has quietly made it around two corners and down a corridor to chow down at a food dish 25 feet away. As one may suspect at a glance, Binky loves his chow—he is built on the stocky side with legs that are rather short. People and cuddling are fine with this black kitty. He likes to lick hands and gives a little squawk at attempts to point him in a certain direction or make him do something to which he objects. Binky has enjoyed the company of other blind kitties, as long as they tolerate being bumped out of the way when the daily canned food snack appears. He would prefer a home as your one-and-only or with just one or perhaps two other cats. He is easy going, but like most cats with a sight impairment would do best in a stable environment. Binky never fails to make us smile. If you have a sense of humor and love to spare, come to STAF to meet him today.
