HISTORY:
Billie was rescued from a forest preserve after he was left there on the side of the road.
ABOUT:
One day in December, we received a call that two cats were thrown out of a car by the Crestwood Forest Preserve. Local rescuers helped track them down. We were lucky to be able to get Billie, but his partner was never found. Billie was so scared as you can imagine. It took awhile to show him that he could trust humans. Billie is a gorgeous, big boy with long fur and a poofy tail.

He started out in a bathroom while he became friends with his foster mom. He would hiss, but when she would rub his head, she could see that he was having a hard time not liking it. He would sit on his perch and wait for her to come in to see him. He then started liking the attention too much and would hit her to make the love start again. He did learn to be patient, and he would get the attention. Billie needed time to realize that resources weren’t going to be taken from him. The next step in his journey was to move to one of the foster parents’ dedicated foster rooms. He first shared the room with an older female cat, and now shares the room with a younger female cat, Patches, who is also learning to trust people again. Billie is for sure the alpha cat and wanted to show the girls’ that he was in charge. Both of the girls very quickly put him in his place, and they shared the room without issues. He now waits for his foster parents to come in to feed and spend time with him. He has just become a lap cat as well! He crawls up on his foster dad’s lap and loves to be petted.

The home that adopts Billie will need to realize his background and let him adjust at his own pace. Now that Billie knows how great human attention is, he will want to be part of the family and snuggle in. He has not been around children so we don’t know how he would be, but because of his background, we recommend teenage aged children. Small children may move too fast for him. He is a great eater, and uses his litter box without issues. He would be fine with another cat. He has only been with females. He would need a female cat who would let him think he is in charge, but give him a smack into reality if needed. He is housed with a female cat if you are looking for a partner for him.
