Meet Bertie

Meet Bertie! Bertie is a 7 1/2 month old (his b-day is 05/18/2020) domestic short-haired tabby male kitten who has had quite a journey in his short time here. Bertie was brought into Acct Philly (Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia) by a good Samaritan on July 2, 2020, when he was only eight (8) weeks old. His finder said that Bertie and his siblings were attacked by a raccoon and Bertie was the sole survivor. He was examined by the vet at ACCT Philly who stated Bertie appeared to be a healthy kitten who had a large wound over his shoulder. The vet was able to get him all stitched up and feeling better and Bertie was placed into foster care.

The state of Pennsylvania's Department of Agriculture requires any animal that has a bite or cut of unknown origin must be placed on a 6 month rabies hold even if the bite cannot be verified. Bertie's foster mom had to keep him separated from her other foster animals but she still spend lots of time with him to continue his socialization. In November 2020, the PA Dept. of Agriculture cleared Bertie and he was slowly introduced to the rest of the cats and dogs in his foster home. Due to his isolation he missed out on some very important kitten etiquette but is currently catching up. His foster mom thinks he would do best as the only cat as he tends to be a little shy with other animals. Despite all Bertie has been through he has remained in good spirits, is very loving and wants a lot of the attention. He purrs all the time, wants to play and loves the feather wand! Bertie's foster mom thinks he would be a great family cat, as he is good with children.

Bertie is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations including rabies, dewormed, has received preventative flea treatment, combo/snap tested negative for FIV/FeLv, and microchipped.

If you are interested in learning more about Bertie you must submit an adoption application. We MUST have a fully completed adoption application on file BEFORE contacting anyone, as we will not answer adoption inquiries without having an application on file to refer to. Please copy and paste this link in order to submit an adoption application:

Please understand that we are a Volunteer 501 3 c Non-Profit foster based rescue and it may take a few days for someone to contact you. Additionally, we do property checks and must have a copy of your lease as well as your landlord's info if you rent. We will do a property check if you state you own your property. This is not to be intrusive but to ensure that the pet you want to adopt is allowed to be in your home. One of the main reasons cats/kittens are surrendered to the shelter is due to "landlord reasons." Thank you so much for your cooperation regarding this matter.
