Meet Beau - 4 paw declaw

Five year old Beau is looking for love...again. His story is a long one, but I hope you take the time to read it.

Beau is a very special cat. I have gone through a lot with him in the time I have known him. He has changed homes at least 12 times in his short life. I'd like to find him a loving forever home so he never moves again.

Beau is now in foster care for the fourth time. Each home returned him because of behavioral issues which we now know were caused by him not feeling well. He has a sensitive stomach and when he is stressed out, he stops eating and then makes himself sick. Obviously, being moved from place to place constantly did nothing but make his stress level worse. We now know that his condition is 100% manageable by feeding him a grain free food and if he has a flare up for some reason, a simple round of inexpensive steroid pills solves the problem. I have known Beau since Nov 1, 2014. He was always adopted very quickly but then returned. I now know, after working closely with a vet, that his problems were medical, not behavioral, and have been resolved.

Beau is currently on grain free Nature's Instinct Raw Boost chicken kibble and is doing very well. He is currently off all medication and having no symptoms, Beau is a picky eater so it is necessary his new owner realize that they can't simply buy a new food and expect Beau to eat it. I tried many different grain free foods for about a month before I found one he would eat. His new owner will have to continue with the same food I have him on or he will become sick. The logic of "when he gets hungry enough, he'll eat" does not apply to Beau.

I've gone through alot with Beau, including having to have a feeding tube inserted when he was refusing to eat and became very sick. He was an absolute trooper through the entire thing. He is a wonderful cat and is well worth all of the effort we have put into his care. I'm hoping a family who currently has a cat with similar problems, or had one in the past and is experienced with it, will be willing to give Beau his FINAL home. Beau doesn't really know what a home is because he's never stayed in one place very long. He's had at least 5 owners in his short life.

I have several other cats in the house and Beau does fine with them. He's not big on playing or chasing the other cats, but happily spends time at the window with my other cats to watch the birds. I had one foster cat last year, a male, with markings like a black and white cow. Beau HATED that cat and constantly chased him to the point I had to keep them separated. Beau is just fine with the other cats in my house and is occasionally the one being chased by dominant, bully cats. I have 2 beagles and Beau will hiss and swat at them. He is declawed, but I am concerned that if he went after a dog who wasn't as mellow as mine, there could be issues. I don't have him listed as "no dogs" because I feel he'd be OK with smaller dogs.

Beau is not an overly-needy cat. He's not on my lap all the time or bothering me when I'm trying to do computer work. He is the first one to greet me at the door when I get home and he talks back if you talk to him. He's a very serious cat...like an old, wise man trapped in a young cat body. I think the fact that he was basically sick and miserable for the first four years of his life robbed him of his childhood.

If you are interested in Beau please contact me at Beagmom1@yahoo.com. HIs adoption fee is $100 to offset costs of medical care provided to our foster animals. He has been combo tested, is current on vaccines, and has been given flea prevention. Now all he needs is someone to love him and provide him with medical care when necessary.
