Meet Stellaluna

Meet Stellaluna! Like her literary namesake she loves to perch up high and she’ll turn her head almost upside down when really enjoying her pets!

This gentle darling adores affection: brushing, chin scritches, cheek rubs… she wants it all. You’ll hear her purr start up immediately and if you don’t pet her quickly enough, she’ll be sure to let you know with a good meow and a squawk.

However, she is extremely cautious (especially in a new space) and it will take time for her to come out of her shell and feel safe: she’s had some upheaval in her life and adjustment can be hard! Despite all that, she has so much love to give. With a special owner who will help her feel safe in her new home, she will blossom into a loving companion. She’s not looking to be a lap cat yet, but she will rub against your legs and demand your attention! She lets her foster parents pick her up and snuggle for a few minutes and then she’d like down again, please. But she comes back quickly to ask for more love.

She will need a nook that feels secure for her to retreat to (at her foster family she’s happily perched on a blanket in a closet). She’ll still want you to pet her and shower her with love though!

She is approximately 8 years old so well past the energetic kitten years and just looking for a calm space to be loved.

What Stellaluna’s looking for in a home:

- She’s new to indoor life with humans, so she needs a kind and patient guide to help her continue adjusting. Loud noises, fast movements, and strangers make her nervous.
- She’ll need plenty of extra time and TLC to build trust.
- She feels at ease in a quiet and calm environment.
- She needs to live indoors only.
- She has no known history with dogs.
- She has shown little interest in other cats, but no hostility.
- She is fine with calm children who will respect her space
- She is on a low dose of gabapentin for anxiety while she transitions to a new space which may be helpful to continue.
