Meet Avie

Avie was born the summer of 2020. She came to us as a very pregnant stray, and stayed in a foster home where she safely had her babies. Once she weaned them they all found homes and Avie joined us at the shelter.

Initially, Avie was very frightened of people She'd probably never been around them. But she has a nature that seeks and enjoys affection and she has made tremendous progress.

Now she likes to brush up against our legs (and the bodies of other cats:).

She loves head butts and gentle petting. She's been known to bliss out when being brushed with a soft silicone brush.

Avie is gorgeous. She keeps her silky coat clean.

She also enjoys playing - she'll bat and chase a ball around the room, and also likes if you engage her with interactive wand toys.

She's totally non-aggressive and gets along with all the other cats. She would be fine as an only cat or with others.

She'd definitely prefer a quiet household though. She still frightens easily and will walk away if she's overwhelmed. But she'll come back. And once she bonds to her person, she'll be an amazing sweet companion. It's her nature.

Our application can be downloaded at https://rappcats.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Adoption-Application-v20210422.pdf. We can usually complete an adoption within 2 business days after we receive your application. We require a vet or personal reference and will conduct a home visit. Our standard adoption fee of $150 offsets the costs of medical services and supplies so our cats are healthy and ready for adoption. If two cats are adopted, the adoption fee for the second can be lowered or waived. RappCats is a non-profit organization that helps stray, abused, abandoned and unowned cats in Rappahannock County. We are strictly no-kill. If they are old enough, all our cats are current on their shots and have been spayed/neutered. We are also in constant need of foster homes to care for cats awaiting adoption. For more information or to adopt, contact us at 540.987.6050 or email us adopt@rappcats.org.
