Meet Autumn

Hi, my name is Autumn and I am an adult dilute Calico shorthaired domestic cat. I used to live with a family who let me be an indoor-outdoor cat. I lived in house in the country and there was a bunch of other cats running around, but I would go home every night. I had a couple litter of kittens and my owners found homes for them or they ran around outside with me and the other cats. Then, I got pregnant again and my owners decided to take me to the shelter, they did not want any more kittens. It was scary in the shelter and I was in a small cage. Everybody went home for the weekend and I gave birth to nine kittens on a Sunday morning. Five beautiful orange tabbies’ boys, one grey boy and three girls that looked just like me. I was happy to have my babies and I tried to be a good mom. Nine babies are a lot and I needed some help feeding them, but it was a weekend and only one person came in to feed me over the weekend. The shelter called Small Lives Matter Kitten Rescue who came and got me as soon as they could which was Tuesday. By the time they came and got me one of my little orange boys was already fading. My foster mom was worried about him and tried to feed him from a bottle, but he was too week and died in her arms that night. We were sad. I did not feel so good. I needed help with the babies. I couldn't feed them all. My grey babies were born with fever coats and smaller than the orange boys. My foster mom starting bottle feeding all the babies 2 times a day. She saved their lives. I was very sick because I had not had medical care in years, and I was full of worms and malnourished. All my babies Pumpkin, Harvest Moon, Maple, Frost, Apple, Cider, Sage and Spice were adopted in December! Now, I am looking for my home for life.

Here is what my foster mom says about me - "Autumn is a sweet mother and took care of her babies extremely well. I knew the poor girl was a stressed, outdoor cat from the day I met her. Her babies were born with a Fever Coat. A condition that occurs when a pregnant cat falls sick due to an infection, or if the cat is stressed during pregnancy. Autumn is a wonderful cat and named Autumn because she and her babies were the perfect fall colored family. She gets along with other household cats but has a quick temper if they get into her space. She is playful and sleeps with me every night. She loves to snuggle up and watch tv with me at night. She excuses herself to my bedroom when strangers visit. She is not unkind to them but prefers to keep her distance. This lovely momma cat had many litters of kittens and it is time for her to get her own home for life. A small house always bustling with foster kittens is not her idea of peace. If you would like a peaceful, affectionate, loving Tortie, she is the cat for you."
