TG it’s foster Friday: meet Anika

The name Anika in many languages means “graceful” and “sweet faced”, two descriptions that are purrfect for his beautiful 7 month old kitten.

This post is an urgent plea to find a special home for Anika. You see this shy little girl will require patience from her adoptive parent that will allow her to learn trust. A home with quiet adults would be best, docile cats; but probably not dogs. She has been under foster care for a month now. Initially hiding, she now readily seeks attention and loves pets. This sweet girl rolls on her back and accepts belly rubs, which is something cats will only do when they feel safe. One touch and you’ll see that petting her is like feeling fine silk, her coat is so incredibly soft.

You may wonder, why is there an urgent plea to find her an adopter? The usual path for fosters is to come to Cats in Bloom to meet potential adopters. Anika’s gentle personality may be overwhelmed and hidden in the presence of so many other felines, that visitors may not see her true self. Even with all this love Anika may have to be returned to the property from where she came. Where she’ll live the life of an outdoor cat. With Winter soon coming, this breaks my heart.

In the right home, Anika will continue to learn to trust and become a sweet, loving companion. Loud noises and strangers may send her into hiding, but anyone who has a shy pet knows how wonderful they can be with the people they trust. Treats are certainly high on her list of favorites which helps her believe humans are really okay.

This little lady puts on a show with her flirty moves when she is testing if it is safe to come near. She stretches her front legs out and turns her head, inviting an ear scratch. The laser light and feathered wand toys will keep her playing until she pants like a canine rather than a feline!

Help her to live a luscious indoor life and know she has a sponsored adoption fee by her foster parent. Surely you are asking, “Why don’t you keep her?” While this has always been a safe haven for the misfits and fosters, the house is undergoing renovation and she deserves peace.
