Meet Alf

Handsome Alf is looking for a home where he can relax and enjoy the good life of being a house cat! Despite his time on the streets, this well mannered gentleman is adapting to being an indoor kitty and loves a good brushing, especially on his head! This cutie is around 6 years old and loves the company of others. He is an overall great boy and hopes to find his forever home soon!

Alf is calm and gentle, and a bit slow to warm up to new faces. He is still learning how to play and enjoys his favorite wand toy. He is the purrfect little companion and is sure to open up with the help of a patient and loving adopter. When he arrived to Ten Lives he had some skin and ear issues, but he was just a fantastic patient and accepted a brushing, ear medication and even a bubble bath with minimal reluctance (although we are sure he has no desire to have more baths!) He is now on the mend and ready to find his purrfect home.

Alf gets along great with other kitties, or can be adopted as your one and only feline. Alf is FIV+, but nothing is stopping this sweet boy from living his best life. If Alf could be the one for you, please fill out an application today!

All over the country cats with FIV are often euthanized or considered not adoptable even though most FIV+ cats go on to live normal, healthy lives. TLCR believes that education is key to helping FIV+ cats find the loving adoptive homes that they deserve. Please read below and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions! e:

FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds typically seen in male cats who are not neutered, living outside, and fighting over territory or resources.
FIV does NOT spread through grooming, playing, sharing bowls, or litter boxes.
Science proves that FIV+ cats live just as long as their negative counterparts with proper care.
FIV is NOT the same as feline leukemia or human HIV.
Humans or dogs can NOT contract FIV.
Cats who test positive for FIV need the same basic care as cats who test negative. Yearly check-ups at the vet, to live indoors, and be fed good quality food.
FIV+ cats shouldn't live with cats who are known carriers of feline herpes virus as they are moresusceptible to infections.

Ten Lives is a foster-based program and does NOT have a brick and mortar facility with regular visiting hours. We are a 100% volunteer-powered organization and require an approved adoption application prior to scheduling meet and greets with animals. This is out of respect for the time, privacy, and safety of our foster families, as well as helping to ensure our animals are matched to the homes that best meet their needs.

We require that all applicants have a satisfactory veterinary reference and provide proof of homeownership OR landlords approval. We will contact all applicants who meet our minimum requirements within 96business hours of receiving your application.During kitten season wait times may be longer. We ask for your patience as we are all volunteers!

All Ten Lives cats are spayed/neutered, receive age-appropriate vaccinations, are tested for FIV/FeLv and parasites, dewormed, treated for fleas, and microchipped. These services are inclusive of the adoption fee.
