Meet Alcide

Meet Alcide! Alcide is a handsome ginger boy born in August 2024.

Hi! My name is Alcide. My foster mom had never heard of that name either and had to look it up. Alcide is derived from the Greek name Alkeides, which means strong and powerful'. The name is related to the Greek hero Heracles, who was also known as Alcides. Cool, right? But I told my foster mom, "You Can Call Me Al"-you know, the song by Paul Simon? So she just calls me "Al". Although I haven't grown into my ears yet, I'm going to be a handsome, super-sweet ginger boy! I have the cutest face, beautiful markings and the cutest "ab spots", as my foster mom calls them, on my tummy. I was a bit timid at first, so I've been hanging out working on my confidence. We are still working on being picked up and staying relaxed, but I'm on my way to mastering that technique. I take medicine well and I loooove my ear and chin scratches soooo much! My next favorite thing is a squeeze-up treat and also, my wiggly wand. I get along easily with other cats and love to play chase, but I can be chill, too. I'm vetted and have the best litter box manners! Oh yeah, I have the cutest little chirpy-squeak when I talk to you.

So, in conclusion, I'm sweet, handsome, brave, silly, so darn cute, plays well with others, and just a really awesome kitty. I just need a really awesome person to share all my love with!

Help us get cats out of Texas! Every year, countless cats face the heartbreaking fate of euthanasia in Texas shelters due to overcrowding and limited resources. The state’s animal welfare situation is dire, and many loving animals are left without the chance to find their forever homes.

Fortunately, thanks to the incredible efforts of dedicated transporters, we have a lifeline to help these cats escape. These transporters work to connect our furry friends with families across the country who are eager to adopt. Many of them don’t receive the adoption interest they deserve here in Texas.

----------------------PLEASE_READ-----------------------------Our cats are fostered in Texas but available for adoption in other states. These cats are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. Our out of state adoption fee is $550. This fee includes: Age-appropriate vaccinations, combo test, spay/neuter, microchip with registration, health certificate, and transport costs. As a Saving Hope direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc). The adoption application and fee would be finalized prior to transport.
