Ophelia was a great mom to her three girls, nursing them until they weaned. She was found living outdoors but is extremely sweet. She can be shy at first contact and might take a few days to fully trust her new people but will eventually be comfortable and affectionate. She loves to be petted, especially chin and butt scratches. As of now, Ophelia is not much of a lap cat, but she will lie next to you and rub all over your legs and hands to show affection. This sweet girl loves her food and will talk to you at meal times, letting you know she is ready to eat! This mama deserves a chance at a safe home with humans who love and care for her. She will be most happy in a home where she can enjoy a safe area where she can observe the outdoors but stay safely indoors. She was curious but cautious of a small dog and was playful with her kittens. She was protective of her kittens whenever other cats were near her area, but has not been exposed to adult cats while being fostered.

Ophelia is in the Business Ambassador program. Community businesses partner with Charleston Animal Society to showcase available animals and help them get adopted! She is currently being housed at Pounce Cat Caf located at 283 Meeting Street in Downtown Charleston.
