***SPECIAL KITTY with SPECIAL NEEDS***

Chrissy- 10 Month old, Female spayed, Domestic Short Hair. Mega Esophagus kitty. I have had Chrissy as my personal foster since she was 3 weeks old. She was found under a porch with 4 of her siblings, soaking wet in a puddle. She was the only one alive. I did not give much hope to be able to save her but she was a real fighter. Once I warmed her up and gave her that first bottle she has never looked back. As she grew, I noticed her little belly would never go down. She was also becoming more and more uncomfortable. So off to the vet we go and at 4 and a half weeks she was diagnosed with mega esophagus. They did not give me much for her survival. I did a lot of research on the subject and she was such a little fighter I did not want to give up on her. I began feeding her upright and holding her that way for 10 minutes after her meal. That helped quite a lot but in the long term is not really feasible. More research. I found a study that if you give famotidine 10-15 minutes prior to a meal it helps them with gas and digestion. I spoke with my vet and he agreed to have it compounded for her. I then asked a friend with a 3-D printer to build her a stand to feed from. She has to stand on her rear legs to eat and that also helps. Needless to say that even though she should not have made it she has. She is very well maintained on her famotidine and stand feeding. When the alarm goes off, she runs to the kitchen and waits by the counter to get her medication. Then when her food is fixed she runs to the stand and meows until you give it to her. She has gotten a clean bill of health from the vet and they are very happy with her progress. She is now ready for her forever home.
