Today we launched our brand new pet-search experience. Have you seen it yet? Simply perform a search at the top of the page, like you normally would, and page through our new pet-search results and pet profile pages.
We’ve looked at every aspect of the pet-search experience, from design, to usability, stability and speed — all to help you find your new pet as easily as possible. Many adopters have told us that a pet’s photo was what first attracted their attention. Because of that we made the photos bigger and better to help you look through them.
We’ve also listened to those who said that they wanted it to be easier to find the specific type of pet they had in mind. In response, we got rid of the old left-rail which forced adopters to scroll up and down the page to refine your search and consolidated all the filters at the top of the page. And that’s not all! Take a peek at search to see what else has changed and keep an eye out in 2014 for other major improvements.
BY THE NUMBERS
Did you know that Petfinder facilitates nearly 2 million adoptions each year? That’s roughly 166,667 pets a month finding homes — 5,479 pets a day! We want to make those numbers bigger and we’ve been working hard to make that happen.
Share Our New Search
We’d love it if you’d take a minute to spread the word about our new search and pet-adoption in general. We’ve created some easy-to-share adoption and search graphics to make it even easier.
Nearly 14,000 shelters and rescue groups rely on Petfinder to find homes for their adoptable pets and we take that responsibility seriously. We’ve come a long way since our first search tool and it’s fun to look back and see those changes in action. Take a quick look in the gallery below to see just a few of the ways we’ve improved over the years:
