BlogPaws 2013 was last week and a large Petfinder crew was lucky enough to attend. Not only did our senior producer, Jane, and I get to attend, but Jamie, our business relations manager; Sara, our director of shelter outreach; Jim, one of our shelter outreach specialists; and Kristen, our shelter outreach coordinator all were able to come, connect and learn. In addition, our founder, Betsy, and her husband Ed came up from North Carolina and our general manager, Iain even gave a presentation!
New this year was a special adopted blogger program Petfinder hosted. Pet bloggers applied to the contest and were evaluated. Ten winning blogs received $200 giftcards to help cover their BlogPaws expenses, and a lunch at a local (and delicious) Indian restaurant with Jane and myself, as well as Amber and Kate who handle our public relations. A few days before the conference, Jamie and I worked with Kate and a super helpful Discovery staffer to prepare special bonus gifts for our adopted bloggers with two of our favorite products from the new Petfinder store. I’m awful at gift wrapping (ask my siblings about my Christmas presents) but fighting with cellophane and ribbon was worth the grins I saw break out on the bloggers faces when they saw their gifts.
The bloggers were a wonderful group and it was fun talking with them. The ten winning blogs were:
- Care2’s Feline Muse
- Carma Poodale
- Cat In the Fridge
- Foster Dogs NYC
- Paws and Effect
- Pixel Blue Eyes
- The Chronicles of Cardigan
- The Lazy Pit Bull
- Wishcuit: Campaigns for Canines
