I’m continually amazed by the generosity and kindheartedness of people that love animals. One example of this I see every day is people trying to save animals, even if they necessarily don’t fit with the original mission of their organization.
Recently I ran into a friend that works for Alley Cat Rescue, Inc. in Mount Rainier, MD. She told me about how her boss found a dog abandoned at a local dog park. Keep in mind they are a cat only rescue, but she couldn’t just turn away and leave the dog there. So of course, she took him to try to find him a home.
He is now named Dakota. Unfortunately he thinks cats have cooties, so none of the employees can keep him because, well, of course they all have cats! He is being boarded right now, but would sure like a home of his own where he can get lots of love.
Tell us: Have you ever gone out of your way to help a pet of a species other than “your own”?
