Bethe Almeras enjoyed looking at adoptable cats on Petfinder, but the time to adopt never seemed quite right. Then one day, she saw Sir. It was a classic case of love at first sight.
“There was something about his picture that just appealed to me,” the Washington, DC, resident says. “He looked equal parts cute and clever, and I knew I had to go meet him.”
She went to Washington Humane Society, only to find that he was sick. “Even though he wasn’t feeling his best, he was sweet and responsive to me,” she says. “When I went to leave, he stood up and put his two front paws on my chest.” That would be enough to touch anyone, and it certainly sealed the deal for Bethe.
She left the shelter with Sir, whom she soon dubbed Mr. Kitty, and his three medications, all set to be a cat “mom.”
In her loving care, he was soon well and adjusted quickly. “And I was right,” she says. “He is equal parts cute and clever.”
Now rather than browsing on Petfinder, she spends her time sharing Mr. Kitty pictures and stories with her friends on the web — to the point that she says her new status is”crazy cat lady.”
