Petfinder recently celebrated our 20 millionth pet adoption in style with Cake Boss’s very own Buddy Valastro. (Read about the party here, then watch Cake Boss at 10:30/9:30 c tonight to see the cake!)
Of course, no Petfinder party would be complete without including our four-legged friends, so along with a stunning cake for party-goers, Buddy and his team also surprised attendees with treats for the adopted and shelter dogs who were present.
Be sure to watch tonight’s episode to see the dog’s reactions, then try the recipe below with your own pooch.
“Peamutt” Butter and Pumpkin “Pupcakes” Recipe
From Petfinder’s Adopted Dog Bible
2-½ cups water
½ cup canned pumpkin
1 egg (slightly beaten)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup peanut butter (chunky)
3-½ cups whole wheat flour
½ cup oats
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon nutmeg
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix water, pumpkin, egg, vanilla, and peanut butter. In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, baking powder, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Mix wet and dry ingredients together and stir well. Spoon into a greased mini-muffin pan, making sure each cup is filled completely and piled high. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until firm (but not too brown).
Cool completely and store in an open container or paper bag in the refrigerator. Makes 30 mini pupcakes.
