About our expert:
For the past 10 years, Abby Smith has been the executive director of Felines & Canines (formerly Felines Inc.), a cageless cat shelter in Chicago. Abby began her career in animal welfare with a background in sales and customer service and a desire to make a tangible impact on the homeless cat community in Chicago. Quickly climbing the ranks from a part time adoption counselor to the executive director of Felines & Canines, Abby transformed a then 25-year-old organization on the verge of bankruptcy into one of Chicagoland’s most highly respected and successful adoption centers. With a focus on human and animal matchmaking, stellar customer service and the willingness to assist animals of all ages and needs, Felines & Canines finds homes for hundreds of cats every year.
