According to the Toledo Blade, Moss opened Friends of
Felines in 1999 with 11 cats. Today the no-cage
facility houses up to 100 cats at a time. They come from Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, many of them formerly abused or abandoned.
Jodi Lause, who nominated Jacci for the award, told Animal Planet: “Jacci is, to me,
the epitome of selflessness. She never turns away injured or abused
cats or kittens, regardless of how full the rescue center is. … She also fosters abused,
ill, or injured dogs which are abandoned at the local animal shelter,
and participates in many community events in an effort to further
educate the public about the issues of overpopulation, animal adoption
and proper pet care.”
Jacci received 24 percent of the more than 17,000 votes cast for the contests 10 finalists, and her organization will get a
$5,000 donation from the makers of Fresh Step litter. She says she
plans to use it to fund more spay/neuter surgeries and distribute dog
books to help children become more aware of the pet overpopulation
Please join us in saying: Congratulations, Jacci!
