Behavior_4 :
Loud when hears sparrows outside but it's mostly because lonely. Desperately tries to connect with my 20 year old hand tamed cockatiel but she has zero interest.
Reason :
I've always had 2 parakeets to keep each other company which means replacing one when one dies. For the 1st time in 30 years I decided not to get another bird after Tweety's friend died a few years back. My hope was it would increase our ability to bond but as you know this requires tremendous consistency & sadly I've been unable to do it & he truly deserves a better life than one I can provide. There are a variety of factors contributing to why I can't, but one is definitely not because I don't care or love him. I'm in an apartment & a single parent of teenage son, a 20 year old cockatiel who doesn't live in a cage & craves 24-7 kisses & attention, a rescued paralyzed bunny who I adopted several years ago & needs lots of medical assistance & a recently rescued abused cat who was only going to be fostered but the person is refusing to take her so it looks like she'll be staying here. This is hard as she cries all day long for attention but is way too interested in the birds when she's let out. Lastly, I just lost my job after being there for 20 years so I'm experiencing financial difficulties & might also have to move. As a result of everything Tweety is left neglected & it breaks my heart. He's desperate to get closer to my cockatiel but she gets too scared due to his excitement plus thinking she's a person :) I'm saying he because Tweety's cere was initially blue but it no longer is so I'm unsure.
Notes :
Tweety can only go to a home with an existing parakeet or parakeets (just not as a 3rd wheel though with 2 close birds or it'll be no different for him). Please note that the picture of him on my shoulder was when he was first purchased so he was very young with flight feathers clipped.
