Timneh African Grey - Around 30 years old, sex unknown. Talks fluently with a large vocabulary . Handleable when he /she wants to be. Used to dogs and cats. On Zupreme fruit pellets, and a mixed parrot seed with safflower. Loves snacks and treats. Not a loud bird. Talks clearly. Bird goes out with food and toys. No cage is included.

This Timneh is very nosey as to what is going on. Can be nippy when putting him/her back in his cage because he does not want to go back in. May nip if you lean on his cage. Just cage territorial, we think. Wants to be out of his cage all the time (not a good idea unless you are watching the bird). Needs shredding toys. Likes to shred paper and boxes. We trained him to use a water bottle 100% of the time. Water bottles keep a bird healthier as you do not need to change the water several times a day.

This is a not a bird for anyone with children in the house. Not a child’s pet. Came from an adult home. Owned by a woman, but seems to favor my husband here.

Rehoming fee. We need an experienced large parrot owner to adopt this bird to. We may ask for proof of this fact. Not recommended as a shoulder bird, because of his/her nipping at times. This bird will not be adopted out to a first time parrot owner or someone who has only owned budgies or small birds. Our adoption rules are in effect pending the personality of each parrot available for adoption.

Interested? You must be open to answering our questions. Expect an interview, application to fill in, approval (or not). Visiting is after approval, by appointment. We must meet potential owner in person, no gifting is allowed.

Final approval is pending our seeing an actual picture of the cage you will be using. No homemade cages, ferret or dog cages, or just housing the bird on a stand with no cage. Sorry to have to mention this fact, but we have run into these issues before with inexperienced parrot owners. The adopter must be familiar with safety management of owning a parrot, and our Application covers these questions.
